  • Tuition per year and for your whole stay, from programs at our partner universities
  • One-time costs: flight, student visa fees, deposit and settling-in essentials
  • Total cost of your stay, converted at live exchange rates
  • A budget check against the monthly budget you enter
  • Money-saving tips for your destination city

Where the numbers come from

Tuition is the median yearly fee for your study level across the programs we list at our partner universities. Living costs use real price data from our database where we have it (marked "Verified prices") and an AI estimate where we do not. Exchange rates are live. Every block of your report says which of these it uses, so you can judge how much to rely on it.

Frequently asked questions

How does the cost of living calculator work?

You pick your destination country, city and university, what you will study, when you start and how long you will stay, where you are coming from, and how you plan to live (housing, food, transport, social life and shopping). The calculator then builds a report with your monthly living costs, tuition, one-time costs and the total for your stay.

Is the cost of living calculator free?

Yes. It is free to use and you do not need to create an account or sign up.

Where do the prices and tuition come from?

Tuition comes from the programs listed at Jiva Consultings' partner universities (we use the median yearly fee for your chosen study level). Living costs use real price data stored in our database for countries where we have it, shown as "Verified prices", and an AI estimate from general knowledge for other destinations. Currency conversions use live exchange rates. Each block of the report says which source it uses.

Which countries can I calculate for?

You can choose any country. Destinations where Jiva Consultings has partner universities (the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Turkey, Ireland, Malta and Cyprus) also include real tuition for your level of study. For other countries you get a living-cost estimate without tuition.

What costs does the report include?

Monthly housing, food and groceries, transport, utilities and phone, health and insurance, leisure and shopping; tuition per year and for your whole stay; one-time costs such as your flight, student visa fees, deposit and settling-in essentials; and a total for the length of your stay in US dollars and your home currency.

How accurate is the estimate?

It is a planning estimate, not a quote. Real costs depend on your neighbourhood, lifestyle, your university's fees and exchange rates. The report shows how confident the estimate is, and our advisors can help you refine your budget before you apply.
